GLEN CAIRN POOL REDEVELOPMENT WILL ALLOW POOL TO OPEN THIS SUMMER

To ensure residents are able to use the Glen Cairn Pool this summer redevelopment work will be done in two stages.

Between March and June a new pavilion will be built. From September to November a new pool and deck will be put in. Over the summer work will be suspended so that the pool can operate as normal.

A contract for construction has been awarded and work will be starting in March. During construction the parking lot at the Glen Cairn Pool will be used by the contractor, but it will re-open for public use in July and August.

The work being done as part of the redevelopment includes a new pavilion with a changing area so people no longer have to go to the community centre to change, a new pool, an expanded deck area and additional parking. Replacement of the pool is necessary  and the additional work means the pool is better able to meet the needs of our growing population in Kanata South.

COFFEE WITH PEGGY IN THE EVENING

To make it more convenient for people who are busy during the day to stop by and chat the next “Coffee with Peggy” will be between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 4 in the Food Court at the Hazeldean Mall. If you have something you would like to chat about informally, please don’t hesitate to stop by.

VOLUNTEERING AT OUTDOOR RINKS

Outdoor rinks in City of Ottawa parks are maintained by volunteers. It is one of the reasons it is possible to have them in each neighbourhood. The work done by volunteers ranges from assisting with the maintenance of the ice surfaces to helping organize a winter carnival at the rink. If you are interesting volunteering please contact the operator of your neighbourhood rink or the Seasonal Recreation Office at 613-580-2424 ext 37017 or seasonalrecreation@ottawa.ca for more information.

INTERIM TAX BILL DUE DATE MOVED BACK TO MARCH 30

At the last Council meeting council voted to move the due date for the interim tax bill from April 16 to March 30. This is the second time the date has been changed so older information will have different due dates. Final tax bills are still due on June 30.

KINDNESS WEEK IN KANATA

With my husband Tom, I took part in Kindness Week when we delivered over 1,000 roses to the seniors residences in Kanata South on Feb. 15. The flowers were donated by Flowermania in Orleans. There were many happy faces as the beautiful red roses were distributed to people. Thank you to Councillor Harder who made the arrangements for the flowers.
