Open House –
Thursday, March 2 – John Mlacak Centre
– 4:00 – 8:00 pm
For the southern part of Goulbourn Forced
Road the new alignment is shown in the third
map (about 40% down from the top) in the report
on the rezoning of the land north of the Beaver
Pond. The report can be found by going to:
http://www.ottawa.ca/calendar/ottawa/citycouncil/pec/2004/05-11/agendaindex11.htm
and selecting the link under item four.
North of the railway tracks, Goulbourn Forced
Road will run along the west side of Trillium
Woods - currently it goes right through. The
map of Kanata in the Kanata Community phone
book shows the boundaries of Trillium Woods.
Work on rebuilding Goulbourn Forced Road will
take place as part of development in the area
- this is the same development that will see
the land north of the Beaver Pond built on.
Currently the rezoning is being appealed to
the OMB. It will only be after the appeal
at the OMB is resolved that work will begin
- one of the conditions in the rezoning is
that work on Goulbourn Forced Road must take
place between work on roads leading off it
can be done.
If the OMB overturns the decision to rezone
the land north of the Beaver Pond, then another
way to get Goulbourn Forced Road rebuilt will
have to be found - the bright side will be
that Kanata will not lose a valued natural
environmental area. As it looks unlikely the
OMB will be overturning the decision, work
will likely begin when the appeal is resolved.
