The replacement
of one of the tanker truck used by the fulltime
firefighters at Riddell Drive with an "urban
support vehicle" has left many of us
concerned about the quality of fire protection
for the north part of Kanata. People in the
north part of Kanata are paying the same rate
for fire protection as people with service
from full time firefighters and they have
the right to expect the same level of protection.
On Thursday
November 10 at the Emergency and Protective
Services Committee a report will be coming
forward on how to address the situation at
Riddell Drive. The meeting will be at 9:30
a.m. in the Champlain Room at City Hall. This
is the chance for people in the community
to have their say.
While the
meeting is during the day, making a presentation
allows people to speak directly to the committee
that will be making the decision. People have
up to five minutes to speak.
I know there
is a high level of concern about the level
of service at Riddell Drive. This is the chance
to make sure council gets that message.
The report
will be available to the public roughly a
week before the report is discussed at committee.
To see a copy, please check the city website
or contact me.
To arrange
to make a presentation you should contact
Diane Blais at 580-2424, ext. 28091 or Diane.Blais@ottawa.ca.
Messages
can also be sent to the committee be e-mailing
Diane Blais at the e-mail address above. It
would be helpful if you copied me on any e-mails.
If you would
like to meet to discuss the approach to take
at the committee, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Peggy
