Carp
Road Landfill Update
I am hosting
a Community Action Forum to review information
and the Environmental Assessment process,
and to look at how to build the case against
the landfill expansion.
I would like to thank everyone
who has spoken out about the Carp Road Landfill.
Whether it was the 1,000 plus people who showed
up at last month’s meeting in Stittsville
or the people who have taken the time to e-mail
or phone, our community is sending a clear
message to Waste Management, the province
and the city.

WM is required to add each
submission to the public record required for
the Environmental Assessment Review Process
and to respond to issues.
On March 8th an attempt was
made to have the motion below debated at council.
The goal is to put Council in a position to
ensure WM considers all options and alternatives
and citizens, community associations, environmental
and public health organizations, the City,
and local conservation authorities are fully
involved in the process.
Because several councillors
voted against suspending the rules of order
it was not possible to have the discussion
at the last meeting. However, the Mayor has
indicated he will be calling a special meeting
of Council to debate the motion before the
end of March.
It is important people speak
out and let councillors know how they feel.
Sincerely,
Peggy
