Transportation Master Plan Open House - Thursday, September 18

There is a real danger that the proposals released yesterday could lead to us repeating some of the mistakes made with the 2006 north-south light rail project. As with the 2006 north-south light rail project, if these problems are there when we reach the point of deciding whether to start building, public outcry will likely result in a rethink. However, by that time we will have lost another four years. It is better to correct problems now than waste time and money on a project that may not work.

To avoid a repeat of the 2006 north-south light rail plan, people need to be part of the consultation process now.

In Kanata, the Open House will be:
     Thursday, September 18
     6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Glen Cairn Community Centre, 186 Morrena Drive

As part of the Open House there will also be a discussion group. People need to register for the discussion group, but can just drop in on the Open House. To register or get information on the proposals, the online discussion, or other open houses, you can go to www.ottawa.ca/tmp. I will also be putting updates here on this website.
